Pantone Presentation Finally Done!

After weeks and weeks.. actually months of hard hard work.. we’ve finally made it to the finale; the presentation to Pantone! We rocked it! Now all we have to do is wait til tomorrow and see the final results.

Not only did we rock it, i’m pretty sure everyone else did too. it’d be a hard thing to decide who wins. But ultimately we all did, as cheesy as it sounds.. we all went up up and beyond with what was expected of the project. So good luck to everyone.. and hope to see folks at the Spring Show tomorrow. Doors open at 5pm at the Canery, SF

My Inception. Coming Soon.

Seriously, my insane “dreams” while in my week-long coma, i’m still trying to write it all down as a story.. I really want to explain it in that way.. cause if i just have a conversation.. i say too much detail and such and folks get lost. It’s going to be amazingly weird!

Color Coalition

Color Coalition & Pantone + AAU

Since the beginning of the semester, my group and I have been working on a great project for our print class at the Academy of Art University. A Pantone affiliated project with AAU (“Color In Action”) we call ourselves and our project “Color Coalition”.

The main thing we were solving for was “How can color be used as a social vehicle to create change within a space or object?” Super open ended! The moodboards and ideas were endless! We, Color Coalition chose a subject through weeks and weeks of research of discrimination which lead to a specific subject of bullies within school walls.

We had so many ideas that we were struggling to pull em all together as one and kept failing at that. But after 12+ weeks.. We finally have a finished product.

We asked, how does color affect a developing brain and can we use it to lower aggression and teach tolerance? And here’s our answer…

www.ColorCoalition.org !!!!!

Everything within this is color psychology based for kids. And no it’s not all big bright primary colors.. I dont even think we used any.

From the start of our project, we constantly spoke about how reality-based the subject and project is. Hits home to a lot of us. We didn’t want to just make it “another kid project” but something that had a strong foundation of research, being that it has been noted that there are so many anti-bullying programs in schools but none have been tested if it actually works or not. We wanted to push it further!

So today was the “final” presentation (last day of class), but we still have one more presentation to give infront of Pantone. Wish us luck! The whole class, two classes in-one which consists of 7 other group projects, get a part in the AAU Spring Show this year.. Yay! There it will be announced the winning group for a scholarship prize! I hope we win! But if not.. totally fine. You know why? Cause the ultimate prize would be for this project we started become reality (cheesy as it sounds). It’s a great project and had so much emotion to it.

Thanks to Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School in Daly City, CA for allowing us to come into your school with open arms and do this. Over the summer we will be putting the tiles up at their site for them to have.

The AAU Spring Show is on Wednesday May 23rd at The Canery in San Francisco. Come support us and enjoy the show and festivities!

Calligraphy with Claude Dieterich.. the most talented man I know with the largest Cuban music collection ever! He starts off teaching the skeleton of a letter and practicing sans, serifs, and italics. The best part about that class I think was when it went from formal basic calligraphy to the informal swashy calligraphy.. but still so technical.

A high-end redesign of Dasani water. It was a long process to get here.. but in the end it was as polished as could be. I wouldn’t change much about it.

Samuel Adams Barbecue Sauce project for Package Design 2. The labels still had the Samuel Adams style to it, though much different in feel for what the product is. It is on an uncoated paper so it gives it a time-period to it as well with the shipping crate. The box is inspired by the old coke and milk crates with and illustration and image on the front/sides. The BIG brown bottle is the marinade sauce which the label is a single color rub down. Last but not least, the bottles are packed in newsprint paper and sealed with a hemp rope to protect the bottles in “shipping”. Do you love it as much as I do?
